Our 12th Season Focused on Angelica & her children Alex & Ashley.

The Figueroa/Lagunas family was nominated by Detective Mark Walsh with Austin Police Department Child Protective Services. Alex is in 9th grade, Ashley is in 11th grade at Pacelli. Both students attend there on scholarships. They are kind, hard working & intelligent.

There was going to be no way for this family to heal the emotional, mental & physical abuse they suffered if they had to continue to live among the daily reminders all around them. They need help in healing. Taking away all of the visible damage is a stepping stone that they need to continue their growth & wellbeing.

Within 10 minutes of being in the home, it brought me to tears as the negative energy & pain was so very heavy. I believe showing this family they have value, teaching the mom that she has a special place in this world – it’s crucial. Mom needs to feel she has worth so she can help her family live again.

Alex currently sleeps on the couch as he doesn’t have a suitable bedroom, so we are turning the upstairs 1/2 story into a room that is fitting for a young 9th grade boy. We will fix Ashley’s room so there’s no more pain to stare at & it will bring her joy to be there!

The shower leak has been so severe that it has created a hole in the floor, the sink is broken in the bowl, so it’s also unusable. the kitchen has no doors with cupboards doors being ripped off. So we are also gutting the kitchen & re-doing it in it’s entirety as well. They will have a new dining table & chairs to sit at & be present in each other’s lives.

This year wasn’t just about healing a home – but helping a family begin to heal.
